Public speaking skills have never been more important to your success. In the past, organisations like Toastmasters have been the go-to for learning these skills. However, like many clubs and societies, Toastmasters has had a massive collapse in membership. The reasons come down to time, money, and the complexity of the education programme.

Whilst Toastmasters and other similar organisations still provide value, there is a desperate need for alternatives. Whilst there are some excellent courses and incredible coaches, the need for a membership based training programme is huge.

The Speaker Guild is a different approach to developing your speaking. There are no long, drawn-out meetings, and certainly no speeches for the sake of speeches.

The Speaker Guild is for those people wanting a cutting-edge, structured way to develop their speaking skills in practical situations.

It is also for those who have been members of organisations such as Toastmasters before or have considered joining one.

Our members are looking for something more focused, more practical, and more aligned to real-world speaking.

The Speaker Guild Mission

When The Speaker Guild was first conceived, it had one overriding goal. Membership had to be affordable while still providing a comprehensive education programme for public speakers.

We wanted to create an environment where people could develop the practical skills needed to thrive as real world speakers. Traditional Toastmaster style seven minute speeches do not always provide the freedom or flexibility required in today’s fast moving world.

We were also determined to create a straightforward education system. In recent years, many speaking organisations have made learning more complicated than it needs to be. The Speaker Guild offers a clear, easy to follow approach that helps members develop their skills without wasting time.

The Speaker Guild is the result of more than ten years of research, experience and testing. Its founder, Peter Chatteris, is a long standing Toastmasters member and serves on the board of the Professional Speakers Association of New Zealand. He has won more than 30 public speaking championships across several categories, including at an international level. Peter is a respected professional speaker, author and public speaking coach.

Peter’s books on public speaking are also included as valuable resources for anyone who wants to become a confident, capable and proficient speaker.
